"Art as support for women in experiencing their pain."
FANTASTIC MLLA
*Valkova Liudmila*

About Me I am a multimedia artist and motivator dedicated to supporting women who face losses: prenatal losses, miscarriages, the death of loved ones, as well as moral and physical abuses that deprive them of the right to say goodbye to their loved ones. My own experience of loss—being excluded from my father's funeral, with his ashes still at home, and being denied the opportunity to say goodbye—was a source of deep pain. During the legal conflicts with my brother, when I was deprived of the right to bid farewell to my father, I suffered a miscarriage in Argentina. Shortly thereafter, I contracted dengue and was in critical condition. These losses and trials were a significant blow but also inspired me to help other women going through similar hardships.

As someone who has experienced these losses, I believe that a woman who has faced this type of pain can better understand and support others. Through painting, photography, performance, and installations, as well as body practices, I create a space where each woman can express her pain and transform it into a resource of inner strength.

I have been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for almost two years, learning a new language and rebuilding my life from scratch. I advocate for support for women. I also help men who are willing to be a pillar of support for women in difficult situations, giving them the opportunity to better understand women, learn to empathize, and provide support during shared prenatal loss or moments of grief.

My art is a sublimation of sensuality and denial, life and death, pain and joy. I help balance these contrasts into a neutral state so that women are not afraid to express themselves, feeling protection and support. I believe that my experience can help both women and men see these issues from a new perspective.

Performance
"Rebirth"
Captures a deeply transformative journey. In inviting participants to connect with their pain and reimagine it, I aimed to create a space where art becomes a bridge to healing.

In my recent performance, I invited participants to undergo a process of transformation by sharing my own path — from pain to art. Each moment was rich with symbolism and metaphor, where sadness and loss took on new forms, like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. Together, we embraced silence, looked inward, and found beauty in even the most fragile experiences.

I believe each of us can transform suffering into a source of growth, becoming a "beautiful butterfly" — embodying strength, freedom, and color. "Rebirth" is not just a performance; it's a reminder that we all can discover hidden beauty within ourselves and, by facing challenging times, unfold our wings.

Beauty surrounds us. Let’s turn pain into art.

0. Launch of the Fundraiser
With the help of friends, I was able to pay for my participation in the Raro program, organize fundraising for an exhibition and solo show, rent a studio, and purchase materials. This launch became an important step toward bringing the project to life.

1. A Baby Shoe and Lucía
On the first day, I found a baby shoe on the street — a symbol of first steps. On the same day, I met the artist Lucía, whom I had long dreamed of working with. She is a wonder, and we inspired each other deeply. She’s soon leaving for the US, so our time together was a valuable shared experience.

2. Photography and Karina Beatriz
I came across a photograph of a woman’s chest on the street — people had walked all over it. Two weeks later, an artist with the last name Beatriz contacted me to suggest a collaboration. This magical coincidence brought new energy to the project.

3. Syrniki
Lucía and I began learning to work with papier-mâché. While working, I noticed a similarity between making papier-mâché and preparing tvorog (curd cheese), which reminded me of syrniki (Russian pancakes). This gave birth to the idea of a “Russian breakfast” made from papier-mâché. Inside the sculpture, I hid a ring I had also found on the street.

4. Sustainability
This project is not only a creative process, but also an act of ecological transformation — reusing materials and rethinking space. Recycling is close to my heart, and I consciously use street-found objects to give them new life through art.

5. Pedro’s Workshop and Inessa
I moved to Pedro’s workshop, where I was inspired by meeting Inessa. She immediately felt like a kindred spirit. One of my artworks was based on a painting I found on the street — a piece that caused many arguments in my family. I transformed it into an industrial landscape.

6. Photo and Audio Recording
On the last day of the project, I found a photo and an audio recording that struck me as unexpectedly beautiful. These finds became the final touches.

7. A Nest on a Dumpster
That same day, I discovered a bird’s nest on a dumpster — a symbol that I’m ready to hatch and take flight like a newborn bird. The stage of growing up is complete, and I’m ready for a new journey.

This project is my journey through symbols, synchronicities, and unexpected encounters that offer new meaning and connection.

Body positive
I help people in the acceptance of their body and sexuality
I work with the exploration of personal identity, whether cultural, LGBTQ+, or traditional, through body-oriented therapy and art therapy, while also incorporating Ayurvedic knowledge and phytotherapy. These techniques help individuals connect with their bodies, unlock inner resources, and restore balance between body and soul. I have also created a coloring book with meditations that supports deeper self-understanding and fosters harmony.

Ritual of saying goodbye to a miscarriage
2023
This art object is a glass sphere that contains my hair inside, symbolizing the child I lost during a miscarriage. The hair, which I grew out for a long time, became a symbol of nurturing and the connection to the life I could not sustain. By saying goodbye to my hair, I was saying goodbye to that part of myself that had long held onto this loss deep within my soul. This object became a sort of ritual of separation, helping me to let go of the pain and find inner peace.

"Esta exposición para mí no es solo una colección de obras. Es una metamorfosis por la que pasa cada persona. Como las mariposas, primero pasamos por la etapa de oruga, atravesando dificultades y transformaciones, para finalmente emerger en una nueva luz brillante. Siento que mis obras transmiten precisamente ese sentimiento: la liberación y el renacimiento."

Soul Painting
I create each work as a ritual, meditation, dance, and immersion into your request. I write a picture of your soul's subtle plane.
Creating artworks through meditation and ritual
I immerse myself in your request during meditation and create a unique artwork for you.
Every piece of work I create is like a ritual — a meditation, a dance, an immersion into your request. I close my eyes and start painting, guided by the images that help me decipher your soul's subtle plan. Afterward, I share what I saw in the process, which might lead to transformations in your life. The final artwork often reflects a deeper theme than the initial request, guiding you towards desired changes in a more beneficial way.
The artwork helps you find a steadfast symbol, instilling greater faith in yourself and your intentions and revealing new opportunities.
